We’re less than a month away from the game’s launch at this point, and there’s plenty that we’ve learned about it so far. ![]() Last year’s WRC 9 in particular was a solid treat for rally racing sim fans, and the hope is that the upcoming WRC 10 is going to keep the series’ upward trajectory going. WRC 10 may need additional patches to get it running as intended.The WRC license didn’t get off to the best of starts under the guidance of Kylotonn, but over the last couple of years, the developer has really come into its own and become increasingly confident in its abilities. This is strange considering that my rig meets or exceeds the recommended system requirements (i7-4790k CPU, Nvidia GTX 1070 GPU). On my gaming PC, a desktop computer with an Intel i7-4790 CPU and Nvidia GeForce GTX 1080 GPU, I had to drop the graphics settings to Medium to get WRC 10's frame rates to hover in the 40fps range. To play WRC 10, your gaming rig needs at least an Intel i5-2300 CPU, an Nvidia GeForce GTX 650 Ti GPU (with 2GB of memory), 8GB of RAM, 37GB of storage space, and the Windows 10 operating system. Given the game's photorealistic visual quality, these graphical hiccups stand out more. In addition to low frame rates, there are instances of screen tearing (even with V-sync enabled) and environmental pop-up/pop-in. Though the graphics impress, visual blemishes occasionally sour the experience. Each vehicle also has an exacting amount of detail and flourishes, too. Croatia's long, winding roads and thick, surrounding forests are stunning, as are Estonia’s rugged cliffs and gravel paths. Remove the user interface and you’d swear you were staring at live footage. WRC 10 sports highly detailed photorealistic graphics. The multiplayer modes aren’t particularly robust, but they don’t need to be you'll spend most of your time in the Career or Season modes. Co-driver mode is interesting since it has you and another player team up to drive a car. Co-op modes include a split-screen mode where you and another player go head-to-head. You can create your own club or join someone else’s. In multiplayer mode, you’ll challenge other people and see how you stack up on the leaderboards. Racing classic cars outside of this mode is much more enjoyable. Still, from a gameplay perspective, it’s frustrating to feel that you’re doing well in a race only to end up losing because you’re two seconds behind. The time restrictions make logical sense since you’re trying to replicate the times set during the original races. It’s disappointing that this is effectively a glorified time trial mode. If you’re a WRC fan or just dig classic vehicles, you’ll no doubt appreciate this mode. Yes, this means racing classic roadsters on modern tracks (or vice versa). Quick Play is a no-frills mode where you’re free to race any car on any track. Unlike career mode, you simply need to focus on driving. There, you lead a team and work your way up the World Rally Championship. That said, if you've never played the previous series entries, you probably won’t mind climbing the WRC ladder.ĭon’t want to muck around with career mode? Jump over to Season mode. This is a bummer for experienced players who would prefer to jump straight into the WRC Championship portion of career mode.
